Kindle Error 505 –
I use this for camping and there are 2 things that are very important for camping:
1. stay inflated all night
2. be very quiet so you don’t wake up the whole camp.
This mattress is not as quiet as my last one – it can be heard outside of the tent. But, it can’t be heard 15 feet away. so it’s OK.
And, so far, it has held up perfectly all night long.
One other advantage is that there are no caps to take on and off (a potential source of failure). It has an internal valve. When you turn the pump on, it opens the valve. When you turn it off, it closes. Hopefully this system survives because it is a lot easier.
Folds and rolls up nicely, if a little larger than expected.
So far it’s held up nicely with no leaks.
Important note for campers: remember that it gets very hot inside a tent during the day. Be SURE to let a little air out of your air mattress in the morning so it doesn’t get overinflated during the day.

Over the years, I have come to rely on Coleman’s ability to provide quality camping-related products. Unfortunately, this air mattress did not live up to their standard. Our first night camping in amazing Death Valley proved to be a hard night sleeping on the ground in our tent. The air mattress inflated so easily and quite firmly, too. However, within 30 minutes, while not even sitting or laying on it, it looked and felt like an airless marshmallow. We tried reinflating but we’d be right back on the ground again within 20 minutes or less. We finally gave up and endured a rotten night’s sleep because we’re not used to sleeping on the ground. I will not ever invest in an air mattress again as this type of leakage happens to all of them. Buyer beware!

It is difficult to find an air mattress that can withstand regular use. I purchased this one after reading through a ton of reviews on all of the other air mattresses available in this price range on Amazon. After reading through I came to the conclusion that air mattresses are designed for occasional use only. I needed a temporary bed though and this did the trick. I slept on it every day for three months and even took it camping three times. I had no problems with deflation. I topped it off before bed every night. After two months the air pockets started disconnecting inside causing air to shift around while sleeping and that was uncomfortable.
Another important thing to point out about this mattress is that the indentures in the pattern on top are deep. I had to put a sleeping bag down under my sheets to help fill these in to make it comfortable.
The camping life of this mattress is probably around 30 1-night camping trips. I keep an extra air mattress on hand when camping!

Easy to inflate, easy to deflate. It handled a couple weighting together 550 pounds! Some chemical smell but its not overwhelming. If you want comfort and convenience at a reasonable price, shop no more. This is it. We were first time campers/glampers, we wanted the easiest less frustrating camping experience we could manage …this mattress made the experience great.

I’ve been sleeping on air mattresses for 20 years. Over time they’ve grown in height. I built a queen size bed frame for mine on the same plan as a water bed. I need one that’s 9″ or less to fit it. I’ve had expensive ones that have lasted for a shorter time than cheap ones. I like the ones with a remote but they’re hard to find. I decided to buy this one and purchased the Cardinal & Crest Bamboo Overfilled Pillow Top Mattress Pad to put on it. It sleeps like a pillow top mattress – I love it! I do have to add air about every two weeks but that’s no problem in exchange for a good night’s sleep.
Update…May 2018 – I originally ordered this mattress a year ago and then purchased a second (backup) in January of this year. I have a habit of raising up using my elbow and apparently doing this daily over a year’s time broke down the oval areas that give this its ‘puffy’ appearance. After several of these gave way, I ‘deleted’ it and put the backup on the bed. Having purchased much more expensive air mattresses that have lasted about the same – or shorter – length of time, even if this needs to be replaced yearly – since I tend to lean on my elbow all the time – it’s well worth the price! I’m going to be purchasing another backup… just in case.
